A : Definately.
[ Starter Guide & Leveling Guide ]
For level 1-20 characters only.
The Starter Guide
These are just general tips / advice.
Note by AuroraAngel : It also depends on what your character use as a weapon. To be more specific, certain weapons have higher magic damage, and some has higher physical damage. My character is a bow user, so therefore, it has lower magic & physical damage. The good thing about equipping a bow : long-ranged attack.
Skills
This is very important. When you start your character, make sure you don't put any points towards your skills (shortcut key S) until level 6.
You can use your Weapon abilities/Qi spells at level 5, so it might be tempting for you to add the skill points. Just wait it out, bash some Gyos, use N to sit and rest up and read over the abilities of your future skills (by pressing S). Hover your mouse over the skill icon to see the skill description.
Note by AuroraAngel : It really doesn't matter. Everything depends on you. You don't have to follow what the author of this guide tells you to do.
Start Quests
There are quests that is provided from the very first level. Don't start them until you reach at least level 3, because it will be harder for you to do the quest if you try to do it at level 1. Run out a gate and wack Mangyangs.
You should've picked up enough gold/items to pay for 1 ring, earrings, necklace and hat (as well as a shield if necessary, which would depend on what weapon you use). Some people might advise you to avoid all the quests, but I'd strongly suggest you to do them.
Note by AuroraAngel : By doing the quest, It'll give you fair amount of XP, HP & MP herbs, money, etc. Very useful, don't you think ?
Character Points
Every level, you gain 3 points to distribute into Power/ Mental. It doesn't matter whether you want to go physical or mental for the first levels (1-5), so just pump your Power. You may have been told to pump Mental only by others, but if you want to use a mental build, you'll eventually need to put some Power points in the higher levels anyway.
A little Power pays big early, and fades easily into mental build later on, so pump mental power at level 6 and above if you feel that it's necessary.
Note by AuroraAngel : You could also do 2 Power & 1 Mental everytime you level. It all depends on you though.
Items
Look closely at item stats, compare them to the values of the items you've currently got - two items that sell for the same price on the NPC can be different in stats.
Blue item = magic item. They generally cost more.
I'm sure theres more, but this will do for now.
Note by AuroraAngel : Also, be aware of player shops that sell overpriced items. Ask people around you for information regarding the average price of the item you're interested in before buying it.
The leveling guide
Quick reference : If the text of an enemy name is orange, it means that you are not ready to defeat this kind of enemy yet ( or harder to kill ). If the text is <span style='color
This guide of each monster will contain the recommendation level of your character to attack them.
