Is there any cheat in Silkroad?

Hi Epvp,

are there any cheats or hacks in Silkroad?
For an example there are a lot of cheater in almost every game,
especially in Metin2. I‘m just curious if there are cheater in Silkroad aswell.
I‘m not trying to find any hacks or cheats but I‘m wondering myself,
why I‘ve ever saw any cheater/hacker. What does Silkroad do right, that
there are like no cheaters? Why aren‘t games like Metin2 or Cs2 invaded with hackers but Silkroad isn‘t?

Silkroad is invaded with cheats, it's called bot.
And these bots can do **** ton of things if your server is not protected.

Mostly just bots and IP/HWID bypass

Why metin2 is able to do that? It's just bad online game design.

tl;dr: Online games should keep the game logic handled by the server, not by the client/user running the game.
Everytime you make an action, the server should do the respective checks and reply if this action has been accepted or not.

Let's take SilkroadOnline/SRO as an example; Here you can't walk without server permission.. The user everytimes he does a click in the ground, internally is sending a petition to the server to move! the server will answer yes or no, and will reply by moving your character visually.

So as you may guess, there is no "cheats" if the server is always checking the actions are made correctly. Of course, this game has been made by humans and thus exploits/vulnerabilities has been found over the years but patched eventually (there was an exploit where you could be invulnerable and/or invisible, or a few times SQL injections were found when editing some ingame texts).

The closer you can get in SRO as "cheating", is being able to see invisible/stealth players, or maybe modify visual effects to find enemy targets easier, other than that there is no critical information the client uses, I mean the user doesn't have game logic/data that you can exploit.

Yes, you can find BOTS, the mayority game tasks can be automatizated, boring repetitive stuffs or bad game design requires commitment and bots came in to fill gaps, plus lack of interest on fix that. I think ISRO gave up their battle against bots, using some weak game security to avoid them or maybe nothing at all I'm not really sure, after all their game is alive because of bots (I can't imagine people killing monsters for 24hours to increase 0.0001% exp, impossible and the game is in such state).

Shooter games are a bit different, the online design still there (client ask server action, server replies) but in this case you can be able to exploit the information from memory.. by doing the respective maths you can point the mouse on the right targets in nanoseconds, and stuffs like that.

As jelly mentioned and explained very well already, Silkroad kind of *does* have cheats — just not in the “press F12 for ***-mode” sense people expect.

The real reason you don’t see obvious cheats is because the game is super old-school client–server, and the client doesn’t control anything important. Almost everything that matters (HP, cooldowns, damage, movement validation, item checks) is verified on the server. So you can mod the client as much as you want… the server just says “lol no” if it’s not legit.

Meanwhile, many modern games trust the client more, which is why full-blown cheats pop up everywhere.

Also, the only “cheats” Silkroad really had were bots, zoom hacks, no-delay skills, etc — and most of those still required packet manipulation, proxy filters, PK2 tweaks, or custom loaders. Nothing like the plug-and-play cheats you see in shooters.

So yeah, it’s not cheat-proof.
It’s just annoying to cheat in xD

well if youre talking about private silkroad servers its not really worth doing cheats that directly boost your character like sql exploit -injection or messing with sro client exe cuz the goal is to make profit while staying off the radar so people just try to make $ from every server that opens by bypassing pc or ip limits abusing bugs and they try to keep making profit as long as no one notices and honestly some owners even allow it as long as the server looks active with mobs hunting -events pariticipating so they can call it play2win active server
