Running SBOT external...
Hey there
my mother doesn't allow me to let my PC run 24 hours a day (well not even 5 hours...). I just got the idea to run my SBot external, on a windows server or so.. Now is this possible?

First, find, or buy, borrow a system, use a software such as " TightVNC " basically a remote desktop application, people use it to connect to a their own computer when they are not at home, you get a full display of the desktop, and can do practically anything for it....
1) Get a remote PC.
2) Install TightVNC server.
3) Connect and run SBot.
Done

i had the same idea but the only problem is where to take external server...
you can buy a server for a month but i think it will cost too much ^^

nope. not possible. none of the payable windows 2003 or 2008 servers support d3d.
it would only make sense to rent a vserver for that kind of application, and they only have at normal rates a 2mb shared graphic card.
the only way (what i did a long time ago) is using a full clientless bot aka redconnector or the other bot i always forget the name of.
or somebody has to find a way to login with sbot without client

absolutly no need for that. every windows server has a built in rdp. you can access it from ever windows pc with xp pro or higher. just open rdp, type the ip from the server, enter the admin id and pw and youre in.
cheapest vps provider i know:

Have you used Windows built in remote desktop, and have you used TightVNC?
The performance is very different ^^

yeah both... and rdp was always better for me ^^ maybe cause i.... dont have a clue... and really had not a good feeling about vnc... sometimes it just logged off at nights, sometimes it removed the pw protections, so everybody could access my server that was awful. but could be that i used realvnc, maybe tightvnc does that better.

I've only ever used Windows built in, and TightVNC, TightVNC displays things much quicker, and most of the times the other would freeze, and I'd have to reconnect, this happened mostly when I displayed a picture, or something that moves ^^ It would hang, sometimes it would kick out of the lag, others I'd have to refresh...TightVNC never does this, and it seems pretty reliable, and secure.

I dont think it is possible to run Silkroad with RDP,i have tried to run similar applications that use D3D and I had graphic problems.I have also tried tightvnc and teamviewer and few others (symantec pc anywhere) they all have poor graphic performance in 3D applications,i think that is why they have not been designed for that kind of remote control. They main purpose is remote administration. And the other thing that kind of investment would cost you too much.
Best regards

Good Morning,
Talking about remote control program's, I use Ntrconnect, it's works trought internet without vpn connections. You only need to install the program in the pc that you'll connect and then you only have to enter in the site and connect to your pc.
I use for my house's pc and work's pc and it's works well.
Bye

TightVNC uses that same process, run server, connect with viewer.
