It means that you uninstalled your engine, yet you didn't uninstall your instances, uninstall it once again, my recommendation is to use any sort of uninstaller that will delete all registry entries (I have given a link to the one I use in another thread already) and delete the instances, install everything again and you will be good to go.

if that appears u have to change the mssql name of it which can lead to problems later on with the server taking wrong one etc. best way to fix that ( as i tried alot of uninstall stuff) is to reinstall windows of ur pc/laptop

That's true, but watch out, as it can cause many problems. It happened to me. When I tried uninstalling Windows, it wouldn't want to uninstall. Had to install another Windows, then try to delete old one. It wasn't wanting to get deleted. Said I need permission from TrustedInstaller. Even when I changed that to my Windows admin account instead of TrustedInstaller, it said I need permission from me. It looked like it was cursed lol. Even today I am staying with the old Windows files and Program files in the other partition, as it wouldn't want to delete no matter what.

SQL is a pain to uninstall.

1) Use uninstall pro (google it)

2) If you know what your doing..go into regedit and delete the all the registry left over on it, otherwise use CCleaner.
