AOE attack mean Area of Effect, in normal english...you hit more monsters with 1 skill.
If your botting (I assume you are) you dont want to use AOE attack's couse you will get to much mobs biting...

1 Ice bolt; use this skills first, this skill damage and freeze the mob.
2 Fire bolt; use this skill second, highest damge nuke and mob finisher....
