Look for lonely mob, kill it, that is your dps, obviously. Still usefull to test similar builds. And there is no better one. Also it is interesting to assess your group efficiency, for example....

It measures target hp afaik. Isn't it a good dps meter? What does mean "it doesn't record aoe damage"?
