Float no longer works on the US servers, mobs can attack you on the Z axis now. If you are on the EU servers, use it while you can.

If there are no one around then you should be relatively safe. However it has been reported in the official WoW forums and after yesterday's patch, I'm not sure if they are checking for this now.
