Royal Pirates
A new browser-based pirate MMO
No download • Independent development
We are looking for players to join our upcoming playtest!

Ahoy everyone!
We are currently developing
Royal Pirates, a new pirate MMO that can be played entirely in your browser.
Many of us grew up playing classic browser games and naval combat MMOs. We remember what made these games special, but we are also aware of the problems that have affected the genre over the years.
Our goal is to combine the appeal of classic browser MMOs with our own modern ideas.
What Royal Pirates Stands For
1. An Independent Game
Royal Pirates is not intended to be a clone of an existing game.
We are not trying to copy another title and release it under a different name. While we take inspiration from games we enjoyed ourselves, Royal Pirates is being developed with its own:
- Gameplay systems
- Content and progression
- Visual identity
- Long-term features
Instead of simply recreating old mechanics, we want to rethink them and make them more modern, engaging and fair.
2. A Fair Approach to Monetization
Royal Pirates will eventually need to finance its continued development and operation. However, we do not want to create a game where your wallet determines whether you can compete.
Activity, game knowledge, teamwork and long-term progression should always remain valuable.
Paid content may complement the experience, but it should never completely dominate it. We also want to involve the community in these decisions from an early stage.
3. A Finished Game Should Feel Finished
There are already countless projects that are released far too early and still feel like an early alpha.
We do not want Royal Pirates to become one of them.
The playtest is part of our development process. It allows us to identify bugs, test our systems, evaluate performance and collect honest feedback.
We would rather take more time to build a stable and polished game than rush an unfinished project onto the market.
Play Directly in Your Browser
Royal Pirates is a true browser game and does not require a separate client.
- No unfamiliar launcher
- No large installation
- No separate game client
- Simply create an account, log in and start playing
Why We Need Playtesters
We do not want to develop Royal Pirates based solely on our own ideas and assumptions. A game designed to last for many years should grow together with its community.
During the playtest, we want to find out:
- Which systems already work well?
- How does the game perform on different devices and browsers?
- Which parts need further improvement?
- Which features are still missing?
- What feels enjoyable, confusing or frustrating?
We are looking for players who are willing to explore the game and share their honest impressions with us.
Constructive criticism is explicitly welcome.
There is no benefit in hiding problems or pretending that unfinished systems are already good enough.
