well i can tell you many reasons, but being in a serious need of crystals i would like to know your source(where do you know about it?) so more people will believe you,

you're in my mind, that's exactly what i thought

in the last event the exchange wasn't what or how they told us to be.
they also mentioned that they did a mistake so the crystals were exchangeable with souls. are they fooling us and we're going to take crystals again? who knows... it's bigpoint so everything is possible
P.S. i would not even be surprised if they exchange souls like this--> 1 soul=1 gold plate or 1 gunpowder
