S4 League is Back... and It's More Questionable Than Ever!
So I saw the hype about S4 League making a comeback and thought, “Hey, maybe this is the time. Maybe they’ll do it right.” Lol. LMAO even. Let’s dive into this beautiful disaster.

First things first: The Legendary 21-Hour Delay
Oh yeah, the release was delayed. Not by an hour, not by five, but a full 21 hours. People were out here refreshing the launcher like it was gonna drop a miracle. And yeah, sure, delays happen, it’s "beta", devs need time, blah blah — but you’d think after YEARS of waiting, they might, I don’t know, test the damn thing ONCE. OR TWICE. Maybe even a cheeky third time just to be safe?

The Staff — Handpicked from the Local Meme Dumpster

I don’t wanna throw shade (I do), but let’s talk about the staff. Most of them look like they just got yanked outta Xero with a blindfold on and handed mod powers. Their biggest contribution? Arguing about memes on Discord while dodging every single serious question like it's a bullet in a Matrix cutscene. “Why is the game crashing?” — crickets. “Why does the anti-cheat suck?” — shrug emoji.

The Game — AKA: “Have You Even Played This?

So y’all slapped AP items in like it’s a shopping mall but forgot to check if players can climb half the damn walls? The train door on Station-2? Nope. Wall to base on the same map? Also nope. The only thing climbing is my disappointment.

The Anti-Cheat

What even is this anti-cheat? It's like someone went to AliExpress, typed “anti-cheat software”, sorted by lowest price, and slapped it in the game. It does nothing except apparently crash your game mid-match like it’s a feature. Months of waiting for a “new version” and somehow we got less content and more bugs. A true innovation.

Look, I don’t care if the game gets better later. You don’t get a second first impression — and S4 League came back like that one ex who says they’ve changed but is still a walking red flag. Blaming everything on “beta” doesn’t fly when half the game feels like it was cobbled together in PowerPoint.

This is just my POV, but if you're thinking about hopping back into S4... maybe give it a sec. Or a year. Or just go play literally anything else until they get their act together.

But oh boy, that cash shop? Smoother than your last breakup.You wanna play? Too bad. But you can drop $5 for a 1-day rental on a shirt. 4. Cam Switch wurde gestrichen um Wallen zu verhindern?

Insgesamt fehlen mir bisschen die Worte.

Hätte nicht damit gerechnet, dass man das Spiel tatsächlich noch verschlechtert bekommt im Vergleich zur 2010er Zeit.

Wirklich traurig, dass solchen Studios finanzielle Mittel zur Verfügung gestellt werden, nur damit sie ein für damalige Verhältnisse wirklich gutes Spiel derart durchs Grab reiten.

Für die technischen Probleme habe ich irgendwo noch Verständnis, da man Live Betrieb schwer simulieren kann. Aber der fehlende Einsatz (wurde überhaupt irgendwas erneuert?), die Monetarisierung und die grenzenlose Arroganz von deren Teamlern ist echt nicht zu ertragen.

Ich kann nicht verstehen wie man einen so großen Haufen Scheiße präsentieren kann und sich dann noch als großer Messias auf dem Discord präsentiert.

P Server halten sich seit Jahren stabil und sind der Version von VFUN Lichtjahre voraus. Es gibt wirklich KEINEN Grund die Version von VFUN überhaupt anzufassen.

Studios die alte Spiel Lizenzen aufkaufen um Stammspieler maximal zu melken ala. Gameforge, Webzen, Valofe +++ gehören eigentlich verboten

Honestly most private servers are built by passionate individuals who’ve spent years studying game memory, reverse engineering, and understanding the game inside-out. Take Metin2 or S4League, for example — many pservers are held together by pure dedication and technical skill.meanwhile, the studios who actually own the licenses often hand development over to teams who’ve never even touched the game before. They just CTRL+F their way through the codebase, compile it, slap a patch note on it, and call it a day. It's genuinely sad.it’s frustrating to see how the ones with actual access to the source and funding manage to deliver worse results than fans working with nothing but determination and decompiled memory dumps.
They literally said "Why fix the netcode when you can just rename S4Client.exe to Release_Client.exe and call it innovation?” Peak game dev energy LOL

Looking at current version of gacha system all their ''development'', i never expected i would say this but they really managed to make worse version of s4league with the biggest anti consumer behavior i ever witnessed, not even Aeria was this greedy, they atleast give u the full ''set'' if u adquire it unlimited version, but this, this is just a huge joke, they deleted ''capsule system'' its not deleted fully they just remove the main rewards and slap some random shop items, now when u open capsule from event u end up getting random clothes or weapon item, no pen, no tokens.
if this all wasnt enough their garanted SSR (which doesnt garanted u unlimited time use it can pretty much be 1 day or 30 days) doesnt even work there is already people spending 200k AP on their new ''gacha system'' and at ending of the video when the dude reach the 80/80 pity SSR garanted he got nothing and not only that instead of keeping the pity system ''minimum cosumer friendly'' it goes 2.5times higher than the previous it goes to 200 spins to get next pity XDD like wtf this guys have been smoking.
Their promise of no p2w was just gas lighting they 100% wanted to keep the enchantment system it wasnt cosmetic plan, it was a last min change due to community reaction to their players pre register witnessing the lucky enchantment item in the rewards if they didnt placed that we would have a 100% functional without any attempt of hiding enchantment system, enchants still works u just need to use some back doors like get enough MP and in the rooms screen press the icon because going to the enchantment tab it gonna give u message box saying not supported which has to be the most lazy decision i ever witnessed.

honestly my expections was rerelease of the s4league client from last korean update without the ugly UI from Gamingo/Aeria games, but they manage to make it twice worse, this UI is not only non sense but also IA generated the inventory management feels like HUGE MESS, who the hell wants grid of 3x3 in the inventory it just manage it more annoying over all, had also hope for higher movement speed but seems they just left everything in default, somehow since this is the same company from philipino S4league i also had hope the item drop after killing enemy would be a feature like it was on philipin s4league but it didnt happen which is wierd since Burning system is in our UI? like wtf? i thought the devs from korea understood that we hate pity/stats after the pass TD mode with the option to disable it, who in the right mind thinks its fair give extra defense and damage to person that is losing?

there is 0 content for f2p players, kinda normal but the fact f2p player doesnt even have randomshop pen to get different cosmetics makes the whole cosmetic part of s4league a huge PAYWALL BLOCK, it just gonna result in declining player base just like last days of S4EU.

Guys i think Gamingo/Aeria games actually did care about us , jokes aside the best salvation for this game, its the end of their copy right over the IP or community funding to get the IP even to open source, so the community can take care better of the game than this greedy companys because their focus isnt in bringing new mechanics or content, its basiclly pay free lancer or IA generate 3d models with texture of famous pick weapons and sets and put it behind gambling, if they wanted a good launch they would have made new map as minimum but nothing happen, they could even launch ''city square'' it would be consider ''new content'' since we never got it officially and they claim to have the source code follow some support chat from facebook(idk if its true it has been share image in their discord that they confirm to have bought the IP and have the whole source code).

Has player this has to be the most disappointed i ever got with video game i didnt expected much but they manage to break my 0 expections after the release somehow, i didnt give a chance to play a full match due to the amount of crash idk if the game feels like huge mess in the connections if ghost hits are still major problem or if there is now no regs, funny thing was the fact they put problably accidently limited ammo in all guns.

I guess we wont ever experience good S4league unless the Community manage to get the IP, i think its a waste of time placing effort and using your free time into building private servers due to the fact they can just sue you if you rob their ''player count'' and basicly destroy all your work, i m not huge fan of Xero but i m forced to admit early days of Xero even now days its way better experience than this crap they called official return, i will keep looking into community servers/projects since those are the ones who actually have effort and is trying to make better game.

I think that the best S4league version we could ever get is only once the game files becomes open source so the community wont get oppressed to be creative and show their love towards the game and end up developing from player to player and not from greedy company to nostalgic player
