How can I edit this effect on melee weapons, what is it called in the "effects" folder?

You can extract the dds textures from your client folder and edit them using photoshop or pain.net ( I use Photoshop ) replace save and enjoy

Thank you for your reply. If anyone is still working on this, they can look at the "gi.dds" file in the game files (resources/image or effects) to help. It would also be good to look at the ghost_trail.x7 file.

Hey i can't find the client folder for Xero, just the package folder with the .xs files. Is this Xero's "encryption" of files or can i find the resources somewhere else?

Xero's files are encrypted and cannot be opened with the ResourceTool you have. As far as I know, there is no one other than Xero developers who can access Xero's files (except for leaks).
