do you need a vpn to play rust while cheating. I already have one but I heard that you get insta banned for using one. Will anything happen if I don't use one?

RUST BAN RISKS

Cerebrus in Rust **
Cerebrus is a new anti-cheat system being deployed in Rust, it is unknown if this a module of EAC or an independent system. Cerebrus works by logging your in-game stats and comparing them with the average of players with the same amount of hours as you. This means that if an account with 13 hours is only hitting headshots the account will be banned.

Though not as advanced as other anti-cheat systems used in rust, it uses commonsense to punish the purchasing of 0-hour accounts to cheat on. Values that are known to be tracked by Cerebrus are account hours, account steam level, users kills, users deaths, users weapon accuracy, users headshot percent, users steam account age. Cerebrus is still a very new system and it is certain it will be tweaked and modified in the near future. I will update this page as more info becomes public.

SPOOFERS
Using a spoofer that is detected will get you banned.

GAME TIME
Using cheats on RUST with a 0 hour Steam-Account will get you banned. The bypass is made to work best with accounts that have actual playtime, if your account is a fresh account without any hours, you have a very high risk to get banned with 1 report.

To get actual playtime we prefer you to use cloud-gaming services:
GeForce Now
or Shadow.tech

On those systems you can use a fresh account for like 1hr on a server and afterwards use it on your pc with our cheat without risking to get banned.
Do not buy an account with boosted hours. This wont work since the hours are in most cases boosted by just tricking steam into thinking that you play the game, that wont help in this case. You need to be on a server for at least 30 minutes.

IP ADDRESS BAN
If you recently got banned by the Anticheat or Cerberus, you should make sure to change your ip-address.

In order to-do so you can:
- if you have a dynamic IP, reset your router
- use a VPN

If you get EAC banned, then that EAC-banned account will be connected to your IP, and server owners will be able to see that you are ban evading, leading to more server bans.

If your plan is to use a VPN you will need a residential IP. Otherwise, most servers won't let you join, the issue then is that even if they provide residential IPs those IPs might already have been used by other cheaters.

The best scenario is if you were able to change your IP via your ISP, or rent a residential IP, that only you've had access to.
