In addition to this think about it from a developers perspective, once the dev has sold *** lifetimes his monthly income will decrease, this will affect the product in a negative way and eventually he'll be forced to shut the entire project down and most likely rebrand it.
The last customers who bought it will be left with nothing but a discontinued product.
Lifetime explicitly means "life of the product" and this can be 1 day or 5 years.
