It's pretty lonely by myself on the server. I have a group of 4 friends and we are usually all together on the weekends (I am the only admin, won't be playing). I hope some of you guys who are viewing this post stop by sometime. Build a small base and leave me a message in chat. I'd love to start building a community with you. Note: The server was now wiped on 4/23. I have been wiping it daily in order to draw in players who are looking for a fresh start. If a couple of you join though, the server will not be wiping for one week.
EDIT II:
Had a few people drop in by the end of the day today. Looking forward to seeing more of you.
Hi guys, I am the server owner of the dedicated Rust server, Rust-AF!
Background:
I have spent the first week of server up-time optimizing loot drops and customizing the player experience for an experience tailored to what I think makes playing Rust fun. To date, not many custom mods have been implemented yet, but I am an experienced programmer currently studying Computer Science who really loves Rust and am excited to work with Oxide building mods that my community wants to see created.
Server Information:
- To find the server, type "Rust-AF 4/23" into the modded servers section.
- 3000 map size
- Procedural map seed
- Absolutely no playing admins
- The server is optimized to drop a slightly lower amount of junk items in crates/barrels and a slightly higher chance of dropping components. (I really like playing with electronics, and crafting/building.)
- The server features various Oxide plugins:
- Kits -- Kits have been tuned down in comparison to most servers. Rust-AF kits have been designed to give players items that can be used in various ways. This allows the player to build numerous different items and thus makes the kits more useful a few days into a wipe.
- BetterLoot -- This is how I customized the loot tables and changed some of the drops and drop rates.
- Furnace Sort -- This plugin sorts furnaces for the player making placing large amounts of ore into a furnace less tedious.
- Gather Manager -- This plugin allows me to set the drop-rates of any resources on the server.
- Stack Size Controller -- This plugin allows me to set the quantity a player may stack of any particular item/resource in the game. Ex: Sulfur Ore: 2000
- Crafting Controller -- This plugin allows me to set the crafting speed. Currently set to 50% of vanilla speeds.
- Trade -- As my server has not yet had much traffic, I have not been able to test this plugin. However, typically the more prominent plugins such as Trade/Kits/BetterLoot work fine right after uploading them so I foresee no issues.
Miscellaneous:
The server currently features no group limit. I have plans to implement a color-based clan system that I think would be really cool and if it grows large organically I am not opposed and will not limit players. However, if the server populates and it turns out most players want a limit we the issue could be readdressed.
All of the plugins I have included are geared toward reducing the time the player spends farming without actually modifying base values in an extreme manner. In addition, I have customized the plugins that would allow me to customize them so that they are less tedious.
I plan to grow Rust-AF servers from 1 server to 3 servers in the future if we can develop a community. I would like to have a 2x/3x/5x or vanilla/2x/3x.
Thanks for reading disclaimer:
Rust-AF is not as refined as those servers that have already established themselves. Given time, however, my goal with our servers is to create a unique experience tailored specially to the community who built it and their vision of the perfect server.
