I think you are confusing license enforcement and backdoors. They are not the same thing by any definition. fingerprinting for license enforcement is not a back door. The developer can't access your system using it. What they can do with it is send that hash code home and make sure your system is licensed to use it. If not they are also well within their rights to lock you out of using that tool. Again, not a back door but instead it is licensing enforcement.
Some folks go to great pains to create decent tools for their own use. Do you have a problem with them licensing those tools to others to use? If they want to sell the use of those tools to others and make something for their hard work what is the problem? Do you give your skills and tools out for free? Why should anyone else!
