Seeking Testers for Server

I'm so excited! Thank you everyone! I've never worked with such a friendly and helpful group of testers.

Today's project was a program that restarts the server when it closes or hangs. It appears to be working successfully - the server will not have any long periods of unscheduled downtime now!

Hello Rolf.. I do hope in the future to be your competition on the field.. :P But that will come in time as we are taking our time with things... I would just like to say congrats on getting the good reviews and perhaps one day you would do the same.

Thank you for all the messages everyone. My testing slots are now filled. I've invited 8 more people than I originally intended to! I'll be resetting the server for final internal testing within a week. If everything appears to be functional, the server will publically open shortly after.

A few have been asking about what my intentions for the server are. My answers are as follows.

- Do you plan on having a cash shop?
Absolutely not. One of the reasons I left official servers was my dislike of the pay-to-win aspect of Rappelz.

- What about donations?
There may be a time when I do end up opening a section for donations. I'll be devoting the next few months and beyond to this server in place of a job, but my first priority for donations would be a dedicated server.

- Why are you using Hamachi? It doesn't seem very professional.
Hamachi wasn't my first choice. I spent a long, long time trying to configure all my settings and strangling my router with no avail. Hamachi is a quick and simple way to allow players connection to the server, and in the end, simplicity won.

- What kind of modifications are you planning to put in?
New stores have been created that sell CS items.
Most NPCs have received new dialogue or features. This will be expanded upon in the weeks to come.
Quests have received a large boost to EXP, JP and GP. By the time a player has completed most of the quests, they will have earned more than enough to purchase a pre-tamed Koala card from the Ursa vendor.

There are some more fixes and tweaks that I won't be sharing until the server opens. I do want there to be a bit of a surprise!

- Will you run events?
There should be at least one new event every week!

- Will there ever be a GM online?
When won't there? Just kidding! I'll be online and in-game for 8-12 hours a day providing customer support, running events, answering questions, developing new features and debugging them.

- Will the server be easy?
Yes and no. This is not a "one-kill-to-170" server, it's intended to be a replacement to official servers.

- Will there be server wipes?
Never.

- What about backups?
The database will be backed up daily.

- What kind of security does this server have?
All passwords are encrypted with an MD5 salt and the database is secured with DES encryption.

- Where's the website?
It may or may not be coming soon. Stay tuned! (My web host doesn't support MSSQL connections.)

- What are the rates?
They're being tweaked and adjusted to perfection. I'll announce them soon.

- When can I join?!?!
Soon! I want the server to be the best it can be when I open it. Have patience!

yo, seems pretty nice, been waiting for the devs to release their own beta server even tho it's not public yet but the way things are going it will definetely be worth checking out...

few questions tho that came to my mind...
1. since some of the mobs r7+ that were "new" are implented in the databse but not ingame.. will they be added
2. are you thinking of raising lvl cap? that would definetely make me wanna stay there even longer

well anywho, GJ rofl

in the dev thread there is stated that theres a lvl 300 max lvl cap and a higher jp lvl cap also, as far as i know temple of exile is working, just tols i think? the betty one isnt

i must say im impressed lol but when you said this server is intended to replace official servers i couldnt help but laugh. it will be stable for abit while not many people play it, but if your server is good and more start playing i can bet it will start lagging heavely. and about there being 1 GM, good at start but you will need to make 2-3 more people with either gm abilities or make (mini-gms??) who cant summon mobs and abuse buffs but can give out bans / mutes.

Why would you need 2-3 Gm's in a test phase, I bet kale is planning on making a GM team, when the server is officially released. You shouldn't hurry a project like this.

Eh lets be a little more specific there speedy:

Finding a GM who is in it for helping users, running events, solving issues, bug reporting is hard

Find a GM who is in it for the Power, Items, Rupee's, Status are far too easy to find

Sad but true.

what you could do is give people a position like server REP, like the US rappelz did. this person can have direct contact with gm/s and can maybe give out mutes? and could also put people in the abyss.

then after a while of being a server REP they could be trusted with more active roles? just a thought cos being the only gm on the server is 1 hell of a job. if you pul it off and take it out of beta testing and go public then i know i would donate to have a real pserver for rappelz.

id like to point out while i did review this server i am in no way affiliated with it, we may have traded a few lua scripts back and forth for npcs,custom content stuff like that.
but thats the extent*this means no server files and fixes no one has them out side dev peroid if they do hell if i know but that system is changing and all my posts including others on dev side will be password protected and links changed so no more free lunches you know who you are* so im leaving this message in the attempt at let people who keep pming me about files. i cant help you.
there private for a reason. they will be shared when everythings finished.
