If you are talking about virtualboxes, vmware whatsoever: This isn't worth the price. You need a much stronger server for the system still being fast enough so you can put this money in a windows machine.

Well technically, running CaptainHerlock on a Linux base would be more than possible. You would have to incorporate all DLL's that CaptainHerlock needs to operate and any framework there in. But theoretically a linux flavor with a well set up Wine and Wintricks could run the server.
-- Edit --
The only concern I can think of is possibly the Database because it is in Microsoft's lovely proprietary system. But that could easily be corrected by having a computer with windows specifically for the Database which would actually be smart thing no matter how you slice it.
-- End Edit --
I think I will actually look into this, as I've had similar thoughts on the matter about running a Rappelz client on Linux. Up to recently it was impossible due to gameguard/hackshield not launching on linux. But it's been proven that linux can use the IE engine and ActiveX can be installed via a Mozilla Firefox hotfix.
Since private server do not use GG or Hackshield it should only be a matter of proper configuration to launch and play via the client. I will let you know of my results soon.

I have a very simple question:
I'm just wondering what you guys think would be the ideal minimum requirements of a system to use to run a rappelz pserver? (like the hardware requirements of the computer you run it on, what would be the minimum to run it ideally)
Any info on this is appreciated :3

Well you should have 4GB Ram at least. HDD space >= 100Gb recommended since those dbs are growing pretty fast (depending on the number of players). A not too slow Dualcore should do the trick

Hi , I have some questions :
- Is it possible to change the ruppy limit on Char in the database ? because there is a limit to 9.999.999.999
- I'm looking for change the name of the npc I've add .. but I can't find how to do that .. is the only issue is to modify the client files ? or I can do that in database or with scripts ?
thanks a lot , and sorry for my bad english , I'm french^^
