Greetings;
Over the last week we've received many contacts from banned players who
claim they were not cheating. The detection measures we installed are
working correctly, and have already caught some of the most flagrant
offenders (we know this by their own admission). However, there is the
possibility that some honest players might have been in an invalid state
that could appear to be cheating, because of this we have decided to
change the banning status of your account to a one week suspension which
has concluded today. Please note that should your account be found to
be cheating again the account would be immediately terminated and would
not reversed.
Going forward, we will continue to remove players who violate our Terms
of Service and EULA. We strongly encourage any player concerned about
being unfairly banned to run a Full Scan from the PlanetSide launchpad;
this will ensure your installation is up-to-date and valid. Also note
that you should never bypass the launchpad in any way, or manually
replace any files after patching, as that is indistinguishable from a
deliberate cheat attempt and will certainly be caught.
We don't want to lose any of the players that have made PlanetSide a
great game, so please do not use cheats. The people who write cheats do
not care if you get banned, but we do. Already, nearly all cheats are
logged, and we are updating our detection even further -if you are
cheating, you will be banned sooner or later. So if you consider
yourself a true member of the PlanetSide community and want to remain
so, don't use cheats.
Also, we'd like to salute the vast majority of players who stayed honest
while we developed anti-cheating measures. We appreciate your patience
and vigilance, and will continue to do everything we can to protect the
game from dishonorable players.
-SoE
