Getting good items isntead of crap

Today some guildies were talking about inspecting element with google chrome, which they used to edit the item value on the website to get like a Scroll of tome instead of a random item you could request from the website.

It sounded totally BS to me, but it seemed to be actually true, as they had like 7 scrolls of tomes on them........

Anyone know more about this and how it works (if it's true) ?

It's been patched now, thankfully. It was an exploit whereby JSON data could be modified before sending the request to the server through the DQ rewards or Jones blessing pages and there was no server-side check on the item ID. There were various reported methods of doing this - I probably would have done it with Firebug but it was all patched before I found out about it lol.
Had it been left much longer it could have completely destroyed everything.... Although PWE have done a pretty good job of that themselves with PWI lol.

Has it been patched PWI speciffiently(or w/e the word is) or the whole edit thing? I would want to use this on a private server, do you know the date of when it was patched?

Private servers have their own websites, it was an exploit on the PWI WEBSITE nothing to do with the game

So you're saying it wouldn't work on said private server website even though they offer free items request?

it may or may not work depending on how they owners coded it, what server is it, i can have a look

How are you so sure? I did manage to get 10 teleacoustics for every other item so it does work... but 100 teles doesnt make me really happy D:

I mean you can get everything of those free items multiple times but anything else out of that list - you cant.
