if you consider buying a new cpu then i recommend you buying an intel dualcore, they are much better in performance, just read some tests man, the cheapest intel dualcore ( ee4200 ) is better than the best amd dualcore when its a little overclocked

Intel is better atm, just check Intel's new price policy

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600(4x 2.40GHz, 1066Mhz FSB, 8MB L2 Cache) ~235?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850(2x 3.00GHz, 1333Mhz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache) ~240?

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750(2x 2.67GHz, 1333Mhz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache) ~167?

and now compare the Intel E6750 with the AMD X2 6000+ (the fastest AMD atm), they have both the same price, but the E6750@default is up to 20-25% faster than the X2 6000+, and if this is not enough for u, just overclock the E6750, it's no problem with the new G0 Stepping

Being the cheapskate that I am, I brought the cheapest Intel core 2 conroe CPU that I could, it came at 1.6 GHz stock and i overclocked it to 3.0 GHz on stock voltage with the original cooler, the CPU cost $100 in my currency and at 3.0GHz performs about the same as one that costs $250+, so I would say intel.

hey just for the heck of it i want to see what ppls think about this title. i have amd 64 x2 Dual, 4600+ 2gigs of the best 800mhz ram i could find. and i went with nvidia 8800gts 640mb. after seeing my buddies ATI HD3800+ i forget what he had. i play smoothly at all setting turned up no over clocking. so post what you got i guess, just bored and waiting for new bypasser. it passes the time i guess. ^^ ;)
