At 10 I was working at my father's shop for clothes to make pocket money for school. It was actually pretty fun.

Well, In our country.. Children under 18 are not allowed to get a "job". Nice to hear that it was pretty fun, though.

They are not wrong at all, you won't get into your childhood again so enjoying your holidays is actually more important than working.
You may think about that when you become older but for now it's best to just have some fun instead of working for a pittance at this young age.
