It’s a tangled complicated mess that I don’t really understand… in fact neither do most physicists.. the maths behind quantum mechanics and general relativity is quite ‘easy’ in comparison. It’s also not yet possible to test any predictions from string theory and that makes scientists uneasy…. you have to be able to run experiments to test your theories.

Everyone except from a few very gifted people, who claims to understand quantum level processes, is not honest to his- or herself. You can try to imagine how things work on a quantum level, but you really cannot fully understand how and, most importantly, why. As someone who comes into contact with quantum theories quite often, I know what I am talking.
You just must accept everything they told you. Is like Schrödinger's cat, simplify is like that, nobody know how a cat can be dead and alive at same time
