NosTalgia - A Complete Reimagining of NosTale [New Story]

Hey everyone, I'm LainMayer.

For the past three years (with some breaks), I've been working on a project that aims to completely reinvent NosTale, especially from a story and worldbuilding perspective. It's an ambitious, passion-driven project that promises new locations, a fully rewritten storyline, and new gameplay mechanics such as the Glyphs and the Power Level system.

I can make new locations, models on 3ds max, animations NSeffData, I write new story etc and for now I started making a blog about the plot of NosTalgia and a youtube channel.

I mean it is a real server but a different kind. Not just a NosTale edit but a complete rework - so the effort here to make such thing is way way higher. The PTB server is working and beta testers are already testing new chapter releases. I was thinking about releasing the server as Visual novel for now that would grow into the big one.

But I'm not sure if I'll share the server at level 1 content or players want to wait for more and then release.

So the selection is good. We just didnt have such project before

I have big plans for the gameplay and I have some new mechanics done but for now we focus on the story.

Let me know If you want to play such server for the story for now. I can release it after some chapters done.

We definitelly need a "new and stable" server no matter the story or gameplay. As soon as you don't leave the server and be here for debugging problems and maintain the stability with the hot-fixes, you keep gaining and attracting new players.

Keys points are :
1) not just opening server to cashgrab and close it in like 2 months. Instead of putting items to nosmall, you need to do everything is obtainable in the game no matter how hard is it. As soon as people know they can get the item ingame, they will do their best and put efford.
2) server doesnt need to be perfect. As soon as you are there for fixes and improvements, it is all good
3) not just doing code stuff, but also knowing and playing game for better and more fair gameplay between classes and levels-maps etc. If you don't know, you should select some good testers and comunity managers to listen the wishes of your community.

Do your best. You deserve a chance. I will be there too. Good luck !

I spent like 2-3 years to make some concept. I had like 10 different gameplay and story concepts.

I have things and ideas set just to be able to start the content from 0.

For now NosTalgia is in Visual Novel state

I know most people just want a new NosTale server. I want to make it too. But I want to achieve something more than just another pserver... I want this server to have It's own soul. Not just a NosTale edit...

So I think it would be a good idea to start the server on early level to make some ppl who want to experience this game in a new light play just for the story for now.

My idea is to make a visual novel type of thing first and then step by step making this server grow into a reaally big one. If you want to see a server with passion and quality that was never seen before - you need to be patient but like I said - If I'll see ppl willing to try this server from early gameplay development - I can open it very fast after a few chapters of the story

So you would login and read new releases. Firstly story that you would read, then first items... first raids SP reworks never seen before...

I don't really care about super big 1 day release. I want a project that touches hearts, not just show some fireworks, grab money and close. This is a project that will last for years, carefully updated with new patch releases!

(Btw I didn't use translator or GPT for this message xD)

so keep your fingers crossed and keep your minds open. Let's try to give this game some love!

That project looks really cool. It has the kind of NosTale vibe - but with something different. I'm curious how it will be, when you start the server. I would also recommend, to get a good testing team. Leveling, mechanics, PvP etc. should be stable at all.

I think with your design and your passion, you will reach a lot of (Oldschool) NosPlayers, for sure. But, to hold them on your server, the gameplay should feel very smooth.

I'm happy to see such a project, as in this section a lot of hate is spreaded for new things, I wish you good luck!

I'm glad we didn't get hate on EPVP. And even some good words... It's a sign that there is a room for us. Looks like some people want something different about this game already.

I had some thoughts today... And I think We'll release this server as early beta for everyone on January 1st with some chapters to test.

So the server will start as visual novel - you can just login each time there will be a new update of the story.

I'll create this server from 0 with anyone who'll get inspired by it.
So when you'll test it, you'll be able to share your thoughts of how you'd see it's gameplay.

I hope NosTalgia will grow into a great server in the future. It's hard to say top because some ppl would bite me for that...

But It's possible. The bar is super high and I have a risky concept... But It may be worth it to put the effort... Let's just never give up and try our best!

I know the rules say that the server must be ready in 14 days after an announcement but I mean... Technically It is ready as an early alpha for testers and for everyone it will be shared in 1 month. Does it count? ALT + L Haha

"You can?" I already did make some changes

Ofc in a subtle way.

About images. I can draw and I have an art channel on my Discord. At first I did try to draw it myself but It would be an impossible work for 1 person to make so many pictures for each dialogue and also game design etc.

I use GPT but in a careful way. I usually generate 100+ images and select like a few. It takes many hours actually and I know ppl hate AI art. But I mean look at the images, I think the job is done here to portrait the emotions on some level and to just move imagination.
