Yes, but should be only .exe and .dll files. Just rightclick->unblock

Just right click the rar file of Beta 1.8 and click unblock, THEN extract it, rather than to go into the files and unblock them after you extract it.

If the game keeps crashing, uninstall Python, then manually go into C: and delete the Python27 folder, run a registry cleaner such as CCleaner.
Reinstall Python according to the readme file and try the game again.

If that does not fix the issue, others have claimed to uninstall old versions of Java and that worked for them.
