this. adding end race packets or making parts decrease currencies are useless stuff.
|
Berkay, I respect and understand that you want unlimited cash, therefore no sense of progression, but other people might want it.

Also, people, you can already use this server that is hosted on someone else through hamachi or tunngle or whatever. you just need to change the "localhost" in shortcut to hamachi IP. this guy's doing nothing but useless stuff IMO.

Berkay, I respect your opinion, but Project "Reborn", even if you see it as useless, aims to restore atleast some of the original Need for Speed Functions and Gameplay. Think of it as you want, but I find it usefull, therefore I am still developing it and attempting to fix transactions and the Daily Treasure Hunt.

The server isn't even a "proper" server.
It lacks a database and code to dynamically generate XML content based on the DB, using your UID and PID as anchors.
Right now it behaves like webserver, everything is static.
100 players would get the same content of 1 persona, making this "server" effectively a single-user server.
We should be lucky Berkay was able to pull that one off.
I repeat: No UDP, no Multiplay.

Well.. me and ragnaci have diffirent personas.. and right now our tests include making persona management easier.. if that helps. Multiple users can have diffirent settings for their game, and diffirent cash, boost, cars and/or names and levels! As I said, im trying to make it as close as the good old NFS World as I can.
As for dynamic XML.. that'll be next on my list after the persona tweak I'm experimenting with..

eh, I already did that but it's slower for local personas since it's a database and requires extra processing power. I'm adding 3 driver support now, at least that will get the down a little.
I doubt this guy can pull of the UDP part, I don't even think he can make out the first "HELLO" from the client to server.

BLOCK ASCII dispatch, welcome. 7.
It's not too hard, you just need to know LINQ and mysql, easy stuff.

I've managed to make races calculate your reward and give it to you, but a strange bug still does not display the reward. (though the reward IS there, it gets applied to your persona right away.)
As stated in yesterday's edit, I've shifted to singleplayer-only development.
Sorry, again, for any inconvenience this may create.
Launcher progress:
My focus is shifted towards Station301.. though you all should get some screenshots in the following days.
Edit:
Screenshots are now up.

Thank you. This thread will be updated weekly (or daily) depending on progress. (devs have lives too you know.. and sometimes you just don't feel like doing it )

I'm sorry but these launcher screenshots look cheap.

I haven't been following this thread anyway. Why do I get the feeling these guys are just wasting their times for nothing in the end?

Respect & wish it was easy stuff to me.
The only programming I ever did was in DOS and MS Basic.
But now really like to contribute to get "offline" online!
Is there sort of "LINQ and mysq - For Dummies" guide,
and what is the most helpful thread here?

This is much better and cleaner, I don't know anything about programming but I will try to make my design today and post it here, I will try to make it clean and official
