edit: Hmm, no it doesn't say that in the readme, my bad.
So if only cmd is needed, then find it in the startmenu and rightclick -> run as admin. Try that.

edit2: I was confused with nilzao's 1.2 server. In that readme it says:

Before I start, I'd like to add that since PowerShell 3.0 is required for mitmproxy to install without a hassle, Windows XP users will have to find their own way to do this install. I never supported XP and I'll never will. Hell, even Microsoft doesn't.

Step 2 - Python 2
This is also the same as the Java instructions. Download it from the link and do not change anything during installation, I doubt you'd use it for any other purposes anyways.

Step 3 - Powershell 3.0
Windows 8 and later versions already has this installed, this step is only for Windows 7 SP1 users!

Go to this link:
Click the big Download button and select Windows6.1-KB2506143-x64.msu if you're using an x64(64bit) system or Windows6.1-KB2506143-x86.msu if you're using an x86(32bit) system.
Click Next and install the downloaded file.

Step 4 - Restart
Restart your PC.

Step 5 - Install python ez_install

Start PowerShell as administrator.
Paste this: (Invoke-WebRequest | python -
Yes the '-' too.
Press Enter, let it install.

Step 6 - Install mitmproxy

Start PowerShell as administrator
Paste this: [Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "$env:Path;C:\Python27\;C:\Python27\Scripts\", "User")
Press Enter, let it do it's thing.
After it's done, paste this: pip install mitmproxy
Press Enter, let it install. IF YOU GET ANY ERRORS DURING OR AFTER INSTALLATION, GOOGLE IT!

Step 7 - Run the server

edit: additionally if the download link for powershell gives a wrong version for your operating system, I think it's also available on Windows Update, so go to Windows Update in your StartMenu and check.

Hello everyone... yesterday and this morning I tried to start "ServerEditor.exe": unfortunately, even with this new version 1.7 beta, for my PC nothing has changed... my SO is Windows XP, the versions that I have of .NET Framework are:

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1

So, I read in the first page of this thread in the Changelog that now, with 1.7 beta, in any case nfsw offline should work with .NET 3.5, but I still have the same problem...

To try to do something different, I dragged "ServerEditor.exe" on the desktop and right clicking, I tried to make "Open", but nothing happens. If I click on "Run as Current user (with my name)", it turns out the usual error "ServerEditor.exe - .NET Framework Initialization Error - Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application."

Till step 4 my PC did not give me any trouble, the installation went on regularly and everything went good. The procedure stops only on this "ServerEditor.exe", there is no way for my PC to start it

I read in this thread about different users who, despite having XP, were able to install and operate nfsw offline without problems; but I read also of some people who, despite having for example Windows 7 or Windows 8, failed to install it... then it seems that the problem is not my PC, I hope...

p.s. - I'm not complaining, I would just report this problem hoping that we can resolve in future versions. Thank you
