I've tested it on Cross Fire ( fps online game) because I got in the same situation like you and hotspotshield helped me in that way. But that was like 1 or 2 years ago I can't renember it so good

The problem is, many servers block known VPN IPs, so you need to:
- Either use a VPN that is small and not known to them
- Use a private vpn or proxy
- Disable your VPN entirely
