Possible home hosting?

Is it possible to host a root server on a 24/7 computer box?
The OS is linux/ubuntu, is it possible to run it there?

You can make Homeroot Server (No-Ip, DynDns.org, etc) this is 24/7 sorry 4 my bad english^^

On Linux/Debian donīt run a M2 Server. You need FreeBSD

and you need a strong bandwidth ^^ sry for my bad english (its my school skill )
