i tried this and when i try and enter the airport it pops up with a message saying "units are in battle so cannot enter airport" or something along them lines. any ideas?

have you seen this anti attack glitch... pinoy are using it in 397 where you scout their base to attack and it sits on 99% and THATS IT !!!! you cant get in
UNLIMITED AIR UNITS GLITCH
Step 1. Attack any base using any unit like dog, infantry or tank.
Step 2. Deploy air units only DO NOT deploy ground units. If you are using Kondor or Thunderbolt it will attack on its own. If you are using Warhawk you need to activate RUBI AI and quickly LEAVE the base.
Step 3. Enter your base as fast as you can. Above your screen you will notice a live battle on going between your units and the base you are attacking. If it disappeared it means your units has been destroyed.
Step 4. Quickly check your airport as soon as the live battle ended. You will noticed your Kondor still has 50% life. Sometimes it remains on FULL BAR. So that's always case to case basis.
Step 5. When you check on the enemy base, the damage has been dealt. You can repeat same method over and over again hassle free and coin free.
NOTE: Sometimes this method fails when you are very slow at leaving the base and entering the base. do it fast when you are using TBolts.
