Access Denied?

Occasionally while browsing e*pvp, I get a white screen with a CAPTCHA saying "Access Denied. Enter Code to continue" or along the lines of that. What is happening? I never got these before last month

What's going on?
Your access is being denied.

It's prolly some kind of automated defence against spiders.

Spider defence is what I suggested o.o

To stop bots from search engines listing all of the site's content?

If it's not that, then, I have no clue why anyone would bother to stop people viewing the site.
