Lag reducers
These lag reducers help a lot/at least for me.
First one is called tuneUp utilities.. I dont recomend buying it.

This next one is called Advanced SystemCare. Or Care for short. I also do not recomend buying this program. With this just use turbo nothing else...
And the third one is called game booster. Its totally free and helps quite a bit.

4th and most well known one is CCleaner. this is the best one out of all of the lag reducers i know.
The last one and most basic one... is to disable nagle. Check youtube and it will show you how to disable it.
Also if you have a laptop.. Turn the power settings to high. And try Turning your theme to windows classic it helps from all the flashy stuff xD. But its a nice lag reducer for some (like me)
Having lag from a virus or a trojan? Fix it with ether of these 2 programs.

Dont want to trust me? Look they are all real sites.used by many people.
Also pm me if you want The bought version of TuneUp Utilites.

You shouldn't use something you don't know what it does, sometimes those "Awesome tuning programs" just empty unnecessary files such as the recycle bin, add in some flashy effects and you can drag in paying customers who know nothing about what they're buying.
Game Booster does help, other then that I only use Xeno programs.

In CCleaner's case, it is actually very good. However, it really just does something very simple: Cleans/deletes files that you probably don't need anymore. Still, it IS a good thing MOST of the time.

Less programs you install, the better off you are.
Gamebooster: Excellent program, does take a ton of stuff down; however, on a side note, if you're a heavy app user, it will keel you dead until next startup.
CCleaner: Mmm, epic.
----------------
Personal experience - when running a 'non-powerful' computer:
1. Less applications the better (If you're not stupid, you won't even need an AV)
2. Try to reduce the programs that run at startup. If you don't know how, or you don't know which applications...
XP Users (And Vista/7 if you have it enabled): Start -> Run -> Msconfig -> Startup. Uncheck **** you know you don't want running at startup. No, don't uncheck stuff if you don't know what the f*ck you're doing. Use common sense. Vista/Win7 users: My ***, you have a search function in your start menu: Run <-
3. Do the generic appearance fix!
Right-click My/Computer -> Properties -> Advanced/System settings -> Performance.
I don't think I need to further explain that. There's something that says "Performance". Going further in, there's an Advance tab here which you have something called a Page File, which is the settings for your virtual memory. Try to keep it at 1.5x your RAM as some guides say? I set it to 2048 on most machines with a gig or less.
4. This method being kinda like a "lolwut" is to create a new user account. Typically with the use of step two, you shouldn't need to do this. But if you don't know what the f*ck you're doing, this works too (For the most part).
5. When in doubt, Fdisk it. Gotta like a clean OS.
