IDA Pro help

I suppose a thread like this should be necessary now that everyone is learning how to disassemble.

I shall start with,

How do I edit the .dlls and save them?

I only use IDA to look at and comment on DLL files. Then I just switch over to Olly to make my changes. I don't think you even can edit files in IDA.

The Lena Olly debug tuts are nice, though I kinda skipped over them. Yeah, I was a epic failure with IDA Pro until I figured out that IDA wasn't meant for editting the .dlls (which was two days ago, thanks lostmage ) Now it's pretty easy, too busy to take on the chaincast fireball at the moment, but I'll get it by the end of the week.

Of course you can edit DLLs using IDA. oO

If it doesnt work with 4.9, try getting a cracked 5.x or crack it yourself using Olly.

That's probably why, the free version probably only allows viewing... Unfortunately my college is rather stringent on illegal downloads. =/ I'll have to wait till x-mas break to go get it. =X

If your experienced enough, use Olly to crack it.

Heh, why not give it a try, even though I'm still kinda newbish. A more practical use of asm. XD

I crack most Trial-Programs with IDA/Olly, so I recommend learning it.
Saves ya a lot of money!

IDA cant be opened in IDA.
