I do Know in WoW, you used to be able to Filter the packets Sent (Not Saying you could copy someone elses name) Altho like the Curse filter it might be client sided say enabling you to make a nul value name or using invalid Characters such as the alt+???? or even have the name **** as your name.. I havent tried because its very bannable but...

Simple proccess would be to Get a name such as (dfsdfsdf) convert it into hex, and filter it with say the word **** into hex. Your Client reads it as dfsdfsdf. But the PE Sends it to the server where there is no filter and simply checks to see if the name is in use.. Then Boom your character name can be anything you want Even Spaces.

Now that depends. You can lie to the server, but it mas some way of storing character info. If its all stored by charname, it might not be able to handle spaces.

Furthermore, Outgoing packets are hashed, using some algorithm I don't understand/can't crack. Your best bet is to actually edit the .dll and jump over the parts of the code that don't allow you certain characters. It would be easier than cracking the encryption.
