[req]A tutor

I know the basics of modding; make data folder, how to get files, what to edit and where to place it... But xml files are about as far as my knowledge extends. I don't know anything about packet editing really, nor any of the other possible hacking methods.

Jumping head first into a bunch of random guides is daunting, and when something confuses you it's intimidating to ask when it seems like a simple solution to the majority of the community. I'm willing to read guides if they're not outdated, but if i can't remember much if i don't test it out with first hand experience. So, i'd like to request a tutor. I learn best by trial and error, and if someone has the patience and the free time to respond to a lot of questions, i'd love the help.

You can post on here or msg me if you want. Even if i don't post back, i will try to message whoever offers to help, to let you either know what i need/questions i have, or to let you know i have sufficient help. Whole privacy thing, those who know me i'd appreciate keeping my name to yourselves, and i'll do the same for everyone who responds.


Background story is boring after a lengthy post, so suffice to say i lost items. I'm not interested in game breaking or most other "useless" hacks, such as dragon meteor in dunby, things that prevent me from dying, being able to black robe or mess with another's character, etc. Cp viewer has a bit of my interest, but even that i'm not too overly concerned with.

You want to learn to hack, but don't want to do anything gamebreaking?
So, what exactly are you looking to do..?

Also, if you want help, why did you post here? Help is the opposite of what goes on here.

I actually got some help here on a post I made earlier. Well, it wasn't exactly help but hints that led me to understand how to do something. This forum can be helpful... sometimes.

Contradicted myself there i suppose? Knowing your stance on something versus explaining what you want, can be two different things.

Suppose i am interested in learning game breaking things, for the pure sake of knowledge. Using what i pick up, with trial and error, i may be able to learn more and expand on random unrelated points with the knowledge gained from learning of the game breaking things.

Like i tried to point out, and apparently failed, there are things i've seen like dragon meteors or black robing, that are commonly associated with hacking, that even if i learn, i'm not even really interested in using. If i learn them, it's more for the sake of what i mentioned in the above paragraph, than the fact that i'd be able to freely use them.


As for this site, people here know what they're doing, that simple. If i get turned away, then so be it. I've not really lost anything besides a bit of time. I've seen some people i recognize here though, as well as some i don't recognize and are still helpful. I'm also aware that there are faces/names that will lurk and have a lot of knowledge, but don't like to post. I don't frequent this site though, so i don't know too many people here anyways.

And yes, i have a tendency to ramble.

You do indeed ramble.

Basically, no-one is going to "apprentice" you.
I don't even know why people go to such sites and request this sort of thing. Your time would be better spent learning C++, ASM, etc.

Which is exactly what any "tutor" is going to tell you, and it's the response all of these topics get.

When people say 'can i get help learning to mod/hack', to me, it's just another way of trying to get a current pake or other gamebreaking things. You need years of experience to do stuff like this. Take a couple years in C++ courses and stuff. You can't simply learn it in a month or two. Nobody is going to spend that time to teach you how to do it. You're better off paying good ol' dollar bills, taking classes for a few years. Only then will you be able to do half the stuff you see here.

If anything, all anyone can give you at this point is a good push in the right direction to some guides. Which give you a backbone to build off of and further understand things. Just don't expect anyone to hold your hand and spoon feed you through it all. It's not that were trying to be unkind or selfish, rather more realistic. You can't just know how to do something you need to also know why you do it. So, you can understand how to do something your own way. It's gonna take time, I suggest you search or ask around for some guides that work with a method that's best suited for teaching you. Such as interactive ones which give examples to work with; so you can reenforce what you've learned. Once, you feel you have a good understanding go into some books like "C++ for dummies." Then, more adv books etc. Some names have been tossed around the forums a bit.
