I have heard alot about this game and it sounds pretty cool and i want to know if i should play it and does it cost money to play? :?:

Freeshards = Illegal and ****, if you want to enjoy the game get on retail servers. (On Freeshards there is also a chance that your chars get deleted or the shard closes because of several reasons, such as the FBI.)

There are enough shards from Moscow, dude. And only 1 shard got closed for setting a direct link to the L2-client from lineage2.com, not for being a private server. Anyways, there are millions of shards, so the chance is 0%.
Retail = About 40% players are bots and NCsoft does not care. 
However, to TEST the game, I'd do on a private server. $25 for testing a game is a bad joke.

Yeah that's right, there isn't even a trial.
I wouldn't say that NC doesn't care, it's just that the famers are faster in creating new accounts than NC in banning them.
The IG Walker is also hard to detect, if not impossible.
I used to play on freeshards, but since there are so many wipes and shards that close it's gates I went to retail.

Still i'm playing at a l2off private server, i play there now for 5 months and only 1 wipe becuz to many hackers. Still there is no reason to not try first a private one. It's always free to try then
