GWBots going into 2k24, Why you should start a private bot group friends

So after a few years of messing around with Guild Wars bots, one thing I've learned, is the best of bots will almost never be publicly shared.. For good reasoning it's very clear. I know there will always be people with ill intentions or seeking overwhelming riches in game and are willing to throw the game completely out of balance in the process. So what i've learned is the best bet at having the most versatile set of bots, up to date, new or whatever the case, is creating a group with some close mates and writing your own then not sharing them outside of said group. I still suck pretty big booty at writing them, I learn as i go, fix what i can. Write what I can, so far the only thing I've really managed to do from scratch is a Tascas demise HM run for magmas/summit items. Having a small group to message has helped me exponentially, another person who was a lot of help was Greg, he was patient with all my questions and noobness, super grateful for that. So I guess my main message to you is, stop begging for bots, begging for them to be updated in the threads here, because you will likely get snark replies, with good reason. Read, write, learn in your small group and eventually you'll find yourself creating your own scripts or having no issue updating your own.

Whats some opinions on wanting to keep certain bots private and not sharing with the community at all?

Cheers to another year everyone.

Hi, i'm new here, been here a looong time ago and written some bots myself, the old way without the dll stuff.

I understand your view about keeping bots private... but I would say to share some bots (working but old / outdated) is also nice for the community. The community can learn and try to make them better, give new ideas and test.

The points also work in a small private group, but for me as an outsider with coding skills has to learn from what is public.

Not sure what different "solutions" for bots are but some might have a license which you have to share?

Greg crashed gw1 economy single-handedly when he began farming arms with thousands accounts last spring, now imagine what would of happened if it was shared with more ppl.

Hi, I'm just adding a clarification, I create bots for arms, that's true, which I shared with a few people, who then shared them etc...
But I am not the person behind the hundreds of bot accounts,
I am against the intensive use of bots.
This is the reason why I no longer share any projects because too many people abuse it, it's fun for me to create bots and once a bot is finished I move on to another project.
But this is what happens when private bots are shared

Having a public bot and pretend it will work and do everything you want right off the bat is almost as naive as thinking that one of the many so claimed mentors's courses has some sort of unknown universal secret that will allow you to go from broke to millionarie in 1 month. There are very few bots that do work well, and most you have to fix, and that's allright.

That said, some people just ask for fixes and that's it, unwilling to at least have a look at the code first. Some other contribute when they can. The point of it being public is the second, to me at least.

I have a feather bot that i only shared with the person who bought me accounts (otherwise i'd just have one), but plan to sell after I deal with the false positives, that does absolutly everything you could think of. Why sell? There are a lot of my time into it, and great ideas. However, this doesn't stop me from contributing whenever I see someone has the willingness to know what's going on instead of just sucking fixes up.

You can't control what others do, but you can be aware of what your thing can do when others have it.
Blaming somebody for breaking the market is like going after the person who created spoons because somebody realized he could use it to harm others.

Wait, so you guys have groups for coding?

How one can be a part of those ?

I'm a firm believer of sharing knowledge , knowledge can be used for good and evil, but gatekeeping knowledge only hinders progress.

If I invest my time and share my scripts for other to use I'm fully aware what other can do with it, is the nature of the beast.

but what's the benefit on making private bots ?
