So, any of you noticed...
as soon as some areas got posted... they get fixed asap. So everyone asumes Arena.net is just awfully fast with fixing things aren't they? Well i got another approach on that. I've noticed many a two times an area had rightoues outstanding drops with a few purple and even the occasional gold items.
I then went to reset the area and retry the same kind of mobs again. And... again got good drops so i was basically about to say "well, yeah... here is your nice little farming spot". That was when i hit that area yet another time. Drops gradually decreased and no matter how often i tried... i got no drops of use anymore. Even the golddrops went down drastically.
So my assumption is, the game has some kind of auto nerfing. If it notices someone farming an area repeatedly... it is blocking loots. Now i can't prove it as it is just a thing i noticed. But i think this is kinda true. About every farming hint we got in these boards were only good for 3-4 runs and dropped a lot for a long while.
And that is another thing about this thing i noticed... if you leave the area alone for, let's say a week and then go back... you get great loot again. As for the famous riverside, the first time i killed the giants i got 5 runes. With a few more runs i managed to get 7 runes out of it... however in the following hours, even days nothing would drop anymore so i left it alone.
I came back a week later to show a friend of mine where they used to drop like mad.. we fought some and got 4 runes in a single mere run. Yet again, the following run dropped gradually.
So by discussin about wether there is such an auto-nerfing routine in progress or not... we might be able to learn how to control the farming in GuildWars.
I might be totally wrong about this... but i had others try it as well and everyone said that an awesome droparea got useless after a few runs.
What is your opinion on that?

i have noticed a similar effect. however i have found persistance pays off, after 10 to 15 runs the drops come backand seem to settle into a low but constant rate.
patience pays off

Can it be that the game checks your inventory and your chest , so if you have too many runes the game doesnt drop more for you?
Anyways my first post

Okay, i guess i figured the mechanism behind the autonerfing.
The Nerfing triggers as soon as you re-enter a specific area or mission. The more often you enter it, the worse your drops get. Well the funny thing is, switch areas or log out. Get back, enjoy.
I found this out while hunting elite skills. An instance is created for you the very second you hit the outpost and leave it with a group for the first time. It refers to party leader and the quests of its users to place the Mobs. And they'll stay this way, no matter how often you re-enter the area (for example after failing). This is especially annoying when hunting Elite Skills whose bosses share a spawn point.
Well, the solution here was as well: Logout or go to another city/outpost first and come back. Et voilá... Area Reset.
Can anyone confirm this? I've done a few testing, but it might be accidential.

I noticed this as well last night after the patch, I did riverside giants for the first time in a while and on the first 2 runs got superior vigor and superior blood magic before it started to fade to ****.
Perhaps what we need to build is a list of places still farmable so that it is easy to build a circuit.
- Blessed Griffins are still posible even with the azure shadows but are much harder.
- Flesh Golems are still fine if you use a spell breaker or obsidian flesh build
- Riverside giants work well on early visits.
I haven't tried the desert griffons since the patch. Any other information from people?

i think kalvam is right, now even a messagebox appears if you're farming a spot too heavy, telling you about this...
I also made a little statistical analysis about the droprate after protocolling the results of many many runs, and the outcome also underlines the autonerving theory
I will try the logout / go to another city method and report my results, haven't tried yet

I have just started cycleing my farming areas, for example I hadn't been at Riverside giants for a few days and went back there last night and got 2 gold armor drops the first run. It was good for 3 runs before it started noticably diminishing in returns.

**** right, there is one. Griffonfarming: 2 bad blue items, no max dmg. Hydrafarming 1st time --> 1 gold, 2 purple 1,5p. 2cnd and third time, just ****. Relogging in and leaving the are for a week do not help.. not nice
