How will the PVP be in GW2? Will we need to do PVE and get our sets ourself, or can you just go PVP while u get the set automatically? So there will be no PVP in the free world? Sorry I dont know much about GW

You can join the sPvP mode and get a full PvP set, regardless of your PvE equipment.
No PvP in the open world, only in sPvP, aPvP and WvWvW.

sPvP: structured player vs player
aPvP: arena player vs player
WvWvW: World vs World vs World
