I believe the avatar system is where you can make any equip look like anything. In other words, if you wanted Saint's Black to look like Moonlight, you could change what it looks like but keep the stats.

i think is like an equipment transy... for example : if you got saints black (Ronan) you can use it to make it saints bLack (Arme)
