CoV How to Get on the Test Server and its Benefits

Im sure many of you can check this guide at the official forums, but there is a benefit to using the test server that some might not have noticed. As you know your original character is transferred to the test server without it being modified at its original server. Now what you do is if you are unsure of what abilities you should have picked at earlier lvls you go ahead and complete the respec mission. DONT USE THE RESPEC!. Go and follow instructions and transfer your character to test server. Use the respec there, once used if u still dont like what you chose, delete and transfer again. Do this as many times as you like in order to perfect your build.



1. Locate the ?CohUpdater.exe? file. If you installed the game from the retail cd, this will be in the game directory, which is ?C:\Program Files\City of Heroes? by default.

2. Create a shortcut to this file.

3. Open the Properties for the newly created shortcut. In the ?Target? window, add the following flag to the end of the line:
[space]-test

5. Run this shortcut.

The first time you run the shortcut, you will be asked if you want to install the test client to the default directory. Choose ?Yes? if you want to install it there, or choose ?No? if you want to choose a different directory. It is recommended that you install the test client in a different location than your normal game client.
