Activision 'closes Prototype studio'

Radical Entertainment, the Activision owned studio behind Prototype, The Simpsons Hit & Run and Scarface: The World Is Yours, has been closed.

The news was revealed on Twitter by Rob Bridgett, who served as senior audio director at the Vancouver, Canada based studio.

He posted, "RIP Radical Entertainment 1991-2012"

Radical was founded in 1991 as an independent studio and developed titles for THQ and Microsoft before being acquired Vivendi Games in 2005 and later Activision Blizzard.

For PC gamers, rest assured that the PC version of PROTOTYPE 2 is still going to launch on July 24th as planned.

Prototype 1 was cut and not allowed in some countries and Prototype 2 didn't get the hype which it needed...
Every game needs to get pushed very much I think and that was not the case in Prototype 2.

I really enjoyed playing Prototype. The first part was extremly good and the second part is well on xbox, maybe in July on PC as well. It makes me sad such good companies have to be closed.

RIP. Prototype was one of my fav. games. Well.. they wont make any new Prototype game. Sad.

Well, this is bad news, but that doesn't mean that that's the end of the Prototype series (unless the plot says so). There's a good chance that a different studio will take the project. (Let's face it, Prototype to Activision as Mass Effect is to EA, just one of the many cash cows.)

That's what a Indie developers get when they join a **** publishers like EA and Activisions. They destroy franchise and later kill the studio developers and then studios, just look what they did with COD: MW2. It could have been good but Activision destroyed it and killed the team who started COD series, Battlefield is slowly getting killed by EA with BF3 you can see that how idiotic they made the BF series, BF2 still owns BF3 anyday.

It's better for Radical Entertainment, if they go indie again and don't join money whoring publishers. I know publishers makes these studio easy for resources but they also put money and time limit on them. In past eras games used to take years and years for storyboard, scripting, concept art etc Just look at ID Software they don't push their franchises they work hard and release the product, John Carmack knows what he does. I support ID still today. You can't make franchise every new year with no new idea or concept, MW3 is total disaster example of it. Every publisher and Studio needs minimum 3-5 years for a good game even if graphics suck it doesn't matter. What does matter is gameplay but sadly now a days game companies don't realize it.
