Concept idea, suggestions please

Hey guys!

Got a few ideas floating around that i would like to implement into my fun server but with the lack of programming knowledge its kinda hard to get into it.

First base idea is to change the Combat system that we currently have, reduce the damage and damage taken by alot. Around triple digits Damage.
Make it so that Defense actually matters on players + enemies.
For example: Player with 100 Attack and enemy with 50 Def - The enemy would take the difference (Same with Skills | some chance to penetrate the Def entirely to prevent invincible players/enemies).

Second idea is to make the Eatpets (Tiger, fox, pony...) of actual use instead of +x stat decoration.
Make them attack the same target as the player but with like 10% of the Damage. (Similar to Aura Kingdom's Eidolon system if know about that game)

So the question is, is it even possible to implement or is it a "better recode the whole source for it" type of thing? The first one should be not that hard, change some formula's and adjust other areas, second might be like the DNA system but with some adjustments.

Where should i even begin to start and make it possible?

This is pretty close to what v6 PVP combat was like. I remember when you had "regular" gear. Like a 3+ Set / Rings / +3 Weapon a fight could easy last a minute with fooding. PVP/PK was extremely fun back in the day compared to the stuff that is currently present. I mostly see 1 hitting in PVP. It is very hard to find actual gameplay from v6 but i guess you get a hint from watching this old video :

Chronicle Flyff hat a similar approach but it is pretty abusable if you run away from a mob and let your pet do all the work. Also Flyff itself was trying to implement a class called Puppeteer.

Classic PVP version was on 'genesis' of flyff. Mostly on official flyff version. BC was too difficult to get any nice EQ , and for now every pserver has tone of stats on custom items.
Yee, it was a great times with +3 eq, bc +4 was a bit expensive

I guess, this "era of fast pvp", which we have on forsaken etc due to the fact that ppl choose farming instead of fighting and wasting time on arena. And after this farming just going siege to get crown.
Probably only very old players member the times, when u just chilling and chatting with ur friends at the centr of arena :x

A time without that many %+ stuff or too many powerups for everyone.
Is it even smart to change the whole formula or rather tone down the values of which increase damage? Such as str adds +1 atk..
Was thinking of literally changing everything to a tenth of the stats are (Weapon attack, stat gains, lower level cap..)

The third idea i been throwing around is to add Pk again and limit the World to only Flaris + the whole island of it.
I would simply edit the Worldmap and limit the access to the other areas via teleporter and such or is there a better way? (would remove the fly aspect too to prevent some sort of abuse)
Change spawns (remove Small + Captains stuff) and turn Mars dungeon into a Raid or something. Since there is Colosseum, Bossruns can be held there, not many would want to find a way through a maze dungeon anyways.

To clarify the massage i've got :This will be a fun Server that ill be releasing once i get some stuff done, not a actual - let me put it online type of thing.

For a PVP based server, flaris-only is an solution, while still not the best one as players might get bored and feel like playing games such as Hide and Seek, or similar. Also cheater's could easily get to other maps that are restricted, even tho it might be useless for them.

Pretty hard to judge about this topic, guess you will need to experiment what feels 'well' to you and invite a bunch of people for a beta test, due to the massive amount of possibilities, you might need to run a few of these beta's to find something ideal.

And while speaking, i love the idea of the oldschool things with low damage and stuff, but even tho you might get alot positive input from this topic, im relatively sure the real-world will turn out in the opposite way and once people get in touch with that old system, they will dislike it mostly. (Thats just my expierience about watching people craving for old stuff, then once they get it, it wasnt that good type of thing. :P )
