Read through here, this should help you understand what deadlocks are and what causes them.

After that if you still need help, you need to properly index your database.

Too bad that CHARACTER_STR contains lots of locks with lots of tables, so both your post and the error message are not helping at all.

For analysis, you'll have to use SQL Profiler (which comes for free since SQL Server 2016/2017) and the Deadlock Graph to find the cause or you do the right indexing in your tables which will fix the issue for sure.

There should be a release for Deadlock fixes, which is from Pumaaa I think - so the second option should be your choice.
