ACME Crafting BOT

The next patch is coming out soon, at this point if I was ACME and didn't already have it fixed for this patch I'd just wait for the next. Of course, a fix for this patch would still be appreciated muchly if it did come. ^_^

Whatever the reasons, with such a large user base it would be respectful from him to just inform us of what is going on.

Or maybe it would be respectful of the individuals who make up the user base to be grateful for the contribution of this very useful software and hope that everything is ok with its creator, while remaining patient and not behaving in an entitled manner. Just an observation.

1. I hope everything is ok with him!
2. Currently the software is not useful as it doesn't work!
3. We have been patient for about 3 weeks now. Is the project dead? Will there be no version until stormblood? It would only take him 1 minute of his time and everyone would be happy.
4. When you create a software tool and make people depending on it you also have a responsibility towards them. It is his right to do whatever he wants with his software, he can even quit if he likes, but the respectful thing would be to inform his user base.
5. As you quoted me I would suggest you read my older posts where I actually ask if someone knows him just to make sure he is ok.

Your past concern doesn't negate your present entitlement. You have literally no idea what's going on with him, and yet you accuse someone who put forth the effort to provide this tool to the community in the first place of disrespect. In my view, you are the disrespectful one right now, sorry.

What you have to understand first, and this may be a hard concept for a millennial to grasp, is that he doesn't owe you a thing. He doesn't owe you a single word of communication, much less consistent updates. If he disappeared and never posted again, he still wouldn't owe you a thing.

When you start tossing around words like 'responsibility'....that's entitlement. This is not a business transaction. Even if you've donated, which statistically speaking you probably haven't (as most people who use the bot haven't donated), that still doesn't turn this into a business transaction. He has no obligation towards you whatsoever.

Now, that said, would it be nice to see some communication? Sure. And you can express your desire for such communication just fine. One could even argue that it would be respectful for him to do so....depending on which definition of 'respectful' you're using, because some definitions definitely lean back towards entitlement again. However, I wouldn't go so far as to call the silence disrespectful.

The way I see it, ACME has always communicated a lot in the past. Even when he's been hurt or offended by people posting here, he's still communicated. So I figure if he's not communicating now, there's a reason. And I'm imaginative, so I come up with plenty possible reasons.

1 - He was in an accident and is still in recovery. Access to a computer to post about bot progress is a very low priority right now.
2 - He had a breakin and his computer was stolen. Again, obviously more on his mind than coming and making a post.
3 - In testing to try to fix the bot, he tried something that not only didn't work, but got his account flagged and banned. And due to embarrassment, grief, or whatever, he doesn't want to work on the bot anymore, but also doesn't want to admit that that's what happened. (I figure this as unlikely, but just listing possible scenarios here.)
4 - He got a girlfriend (if he didn't already have one), and has less free time.
5 - Something happened to a friend or family member and again the bot just isn't his priority right now as he stays at their bedside in the hospital.
6 - He had an accident extremely severe, and although he survived, he is missing a limb, and using a computer at all is very difficult.
7 - He got a new, 2nd job, and free time is just plain gone.
8 - He lost his job and is now unemployed and unpaid volunteer bot work is the last thing on his mind while he tries to fix his situation.

The list of possibilities are endless.

I will say that I don't think the bot is dead. He has mentioned preparing for Stormblood before, so unless something has drastically changed (like in a couple of the scenarios above), I'm pretty sure the bot will continue at some point. I'm also pretty sure that when he does finally come back, there will probably be some kind of explanation for his absence, even if it isn't a detailed one.

The best thing you can do right now is occasionally post to show that you're still interested, but to do so in a patient manner, and not an accusing or demanding one.

With the frequent patches right now and alot of players on break until the addon, it's just smart to wait and work on it when Stormblood comes out. Maybe he is taking a break form the game as well, who can fault him? And this bot doesn't have a big following like someone said(just look at the download numbers), I imagine the donations are also very low. I wish him all the best and hope he comes back to Stormblood.

Actually since the software is written for free, he doesn't "owe" you anything. If you are tired of waiting move on, if not don't be demanding for something you were using for no charge. It is users making demands that make it so people no longer write utilities like this, there used to be more in the past but there comes a time it isn't worth the headache.

Perhaps it is time you learned some crafting, there are even sites where you can put in what your crafting, your crafters abilities and skills and it will give you a macro you can put into the game.

I see, that ACME was online on the 20.04. maybe easter vacation... or no time for this project. It would be nice... to have a working version.

And yes its free, yes there is no sallery for ACME, but it would be nice to get informed. To know what is going on. The project is dropped, on wait for stormblood or it will be a new version soon.

I don't demand anything, i only want... to know...

I come here litterally every 2 day hoping for a miracle, that's sad that we have no idea what happen. i try some other bot for craft but seriously there are just **** even if they cost 10S a month.. really sad
