Help with Mxi

I found the downloads to SpiraXI online, set everything up etc. got the game to load, but whenever I enter combat and an enemy attacks me, the game crashes. ARGH. I am running the game on Windows Vista.

The packet structure was updated about a year ago, rendering pXI and other servers useless unless you have the source to update the server side.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean SE's server or the PXI server? Because the game loads, I can fight (especially when using 1 hit kill weapons like the Judge Sword), I can load all zones, it's just that after a few battles, mxi crashes. I don't know too much about the pservers, to be honest, but I guess I'll keep fiddling around with it.

Honestly, if you don't know what you're doing you're better off finding a project that is further along than pXI was

Having the same issues. I've tried the SpiraXI and I'm able to compile the pXI 6.5 version we'd worked on a long time ago, but I keep getting that weird melee crash as well. Can't tell if it is the windowers or not. mXI crashes and so does FFXIboot.

As far as alternatives, I'd like to know as well.

The action packet structure changed a few client updates ago. You have to update the server-side for that.

Going to google and look around, but just in case I don't find anything, can you point me to the right direction of what I'll need to manually update it myself or where I can go to get this update?

I gave Project Dark Start a try, but the client just hangs timing out after it attempts making the connection from the character select screen into the game. Still trying to figure that one out. If any one is interested search for onetimexi

I have an account on all of there severs available, just in case one or more go down, do you have the boot program (MXI or PXI) running in admin, other than that I don't like vista....
Just sayin... Might be PART of the problem, try running in xp compatabilty>>>?

YOur issue is clearly from not reading building your server docs:

UPDATE zone_settings SET zoneip = 'FILLTHISINCORRECTLY';

will get you passed character selection screen.
