?? are for Wild Cards, you use them when you think there is something that will constantly be changing either from refreshing the game or if the game is updated. The stuff in the ?? here changes with every update it seems and sometimes on different browsers as well, but everything else that isn't ?? stays the same.
When you make a hack, it's best to try on multiple browsers to see if there's any inconsistencies, if there are, then it's best to put in wildcards where the changes occur.
