i have a question here if i use VPS with dedicated memory is it ok too use?like 512mb ram dedicated memory is it ok to use for starting vps to host eudemons?or its will make problems like player always dc?

normaly not

i use dedicated ram and virtual ram

so to give a example

you got 512 mb dedicated ram and 4GB virtual ram ( total of 4.5GB ram )

this is how memory works to explain it easy

windows use 256 mb ram and 256 mb ram is free

128 mb ram get used by the programs and 128 mb ram get written to Virtual ram

it keeps doing that until the game is started up and have enouf ram used ( virtual ram)

depending on the dedicated memory size goes it faster or slower

the calculation can be made this way

dedi ram / 2 / 2 = speed

so as example

512 / 2 = 256 / 2 = 128
if you use 1GB then the system use 256 mb ram to transfer there files all the time to the virtual ram ( goes faster and less lag if XX players are on it )

because it use that system is it possible to run that game even on 256 mb ram , exept that it takes a bit longer ( 256 /2 = 128 / 2 = 64 ) and it gives lag at about 30 players ( bit more/less ?? )

but i need to say , those testings where done about 1 year ago on differend servers
in meantime we just finished moving to french and with I7 ( 8 cores) as nodes , so it should go a lot better at this moment

there where a few problems in the past ( reason we moved to french) with the datacenter i was using ( lag problems)
normaly those problems should be solved by now

PowerChaos,How about if i am using Dedicated Server?i saw your dedicated the cheap one is 512mb ram..but this one doesnt have swap/virtual memory how it can support eudemons with out lag because i dont see any virtual ram there...sorry i really interested on it because i want find the best for my server..

virtual ram is hd space

it is easy to add to every kind of os ( as swap get used by the os )

if you use linux , then the partision get setup with a basic amount of swap ( is a serperated partition) but on windows is it called page file ( 1 big file of 4GB or so ) that windows use as swap/ram/pagefile

so even with 256 mb ram you can add 1TB of virtual ram ( as long your hd is big enouf)

but if you assign virtual ram then your hd will become less bigger , as the virtual ram is using up hd space to act as memory

to make it short
virtual ram = hd space (windows)
swap = serperated partition (linux)

and to answer your question about dedicated (kinda offtopic , its not a support forum here)

Model: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
Speed: 2659 MHz

8GB ram , 1TB HD ( raid1 , so 2X 1TB hd's basicly but in raid1 ) for 220$ all in ( including windows )

Speed is 100mbps for 3TB , then capped on 10mbps (average of 3.2TB extra , so basicly unmetered , to hard to explain)

location = France

as i am moved from datacenter is that the only server i offer at this moment , but i need to update my site for it

but i am making a complete new site that includes dehost and getadedi to 1 sinlge page

I have had a good and bad time with Power Choas, There Replys and Support is Exelent and i wouldn't change the hosters for anything, but they had a little issue not long ago but its all find now Power Chaos is the way to go, but make sure you got a nice fast one like a maxi 3mins maintence **** or even a ultra, ultra is a 12 second maintence omg its so **** fast lmao!

ok no problems with that i just wanna fix my vps with player amount..and i think dehost is the right choice..coz others vps will shut down your vps if they got official letter since they didnt know it illegal yet so they will it run but once its know then you are going down ..

as he gives you 728 Vram ( virtual)

let me do a small guess , it is running on virtuozo

i do not got any accurate info anymore , but before on a Q9550 (node) and 256 mb ram (dedicated) could it handle +- 30 players before lag was becoming deadly

please note, it realy tooks +- 30 min to do a maint (server reboot) if it was EO but it was working great

if i am not wrong , it should go faster at this moment ( i guess around 20+ min ) as the cpu is doubled (still need to test it )

to answer your quote
you need to have a certain amount of dedicated ram to keep everything running like explained in a other post ( ram /2 /2 = ram used to write to Vram )

and virtuozo got a problem that it runs on windows already , so the root got dedicated ram and then it puts HD space as Vram to your vps (so no dedicated ram at all)

the other problem you got is that because it is already Vram that it is not possible to add Vram unlike my system ( tune it to 20GB if you feel that it is needed )

so before choosing a host would i consider to take a look at the system they use

here is a short explanation of the systems to give a idea


or to say it in short
some can be overselled ( virtual ram) and others not

Xen and Citrix are systems that does not like oveselling
exept that Xen got those days a hack to be able to oversell ( shared dedicated ram )

virtuozo and esxi can be oversold

there are a few more systems , but i do not know them out of my head to provide a example

so before making a desison i would suggest to ask what kind of system they use if they does not have it written on there site
and as you will notice to , if they use a dedicated system then you wont find a vps for 12$ like the other systems

hopely this explained why your server keeps crashing after 10+ players

in short words, just buy there vps, hes already said 7days money back. so is you don't like it with in 7 days the you had nothing to lose, i woud say just buy a vps from them test it out and trust me you wont wana go back there realy good vps i7 cpu mine takes 12 seconds "2gb Ram" to do a maintence personaly i like the hoster there good and easy to talk to with support tickets, and they answer you asap and notings better then a good support team just try it out i guess there well worth the money, im running 2 vps from them a "ultra" atm on one and a basic for another but either 1 of them runs smooth no lag basic takes 10 mins to do a maintenance like i said ultra takes 12.
no lag in the game play 0 lag at all

yeah i have nothing else to say but these are good hosts and good vps and well worth the money peace power, nd ty for the vps
