Hello all, I was just wondering how I can ip ban someone on my server? If anyone knows a simple way to do it and can tell me the steps I would need to execute it. I would greatly appreciate it much!! Thanks for whomever helps in advance

As myself I am not familiar with option to ban certain IP via game DB or sth...

My suggestion:

1) Use firewall installed on your server that has such a possibility!
2) Use hardware firewall(routers) (if you bought such a under dds ...)
3) Use IPSec (kind of MS win 2003 filter/firewall - depends of usage) but it is inside win 2003 ... You can turn it on under certain rules and simply ban range of IPs via this (pretty simple, effective)
4) Ban All accounts of certain player (find, compare all logins via accounts logs - you have there all accounts and IPs used by all players) and just ban certain IP under registration page (As I well remember, someone some time ago released help about this - how to Ban certain range of IPs for certain countries even)

As we can see possibilities are multi - depends what you have, what you want to have and what skills you posses or want to achieve - and all this is based on your last effect.

You could code an ip blocker in php, but there are simple ways to bypass the detection, same as with your firewall/router blocking the ip.

ip blocking with firewalls works best ... yes you can proxy it but if your really gonna go thru all that why not block those ips ...

just make a rule and to block that ip ... if you give me your firewall name i will get a copy and show you on a vm

There is a free and nice Program called Peer Guardian 2 , Google it its free can IP Ban any noob/spammer/hacker you want to ban from connecting to your VPS/PC/DEDI and its safe you example : if you added ip by wrong you can go to the Banned list and Allow him again so Its simple to be used and i hope no problems

Ok thanks spy520. From now on, I do not have to worry about people hacking, scamming or what so ever .
