ACME is only down temporarily, it will be back up. But another Itemtype Editor will also be released. The limitations are yet to be decided. As the new itemtype editor is part of a suite of programs I will be making, I've made quite a lot of progress, and I'm currently working on displaying Icons for the items. Hopefully at some point I may even display 3D models of the items.
