It was implemented to motivate ppl to actually take a look into the code and to take the load off the support channel. Because a lot questions came up that could be solved by reading the documentation for 2 seconds.
I actually do take the educational purpose serious. I think botty has lifted the "fear" of programming for many and motivation quite a few to take on a new challenge. Just look at the number of contributors on github. That number is the one I am by far the most proud of with this project.
That ppl ask for a few $ if they help you in a 1on1 team viewer session is totally acceptable imho. In the end it is still free and not required. If you can read a documentation you should be totally fine. I have never been active in this community up to now and for the most part the greed, gullibility and opportunism is just outrageous...
